It’s that time again. Some of the finest digital artists in the discovered parts of the universe and some more guys get together to rumble the fuck out of each other. It’s nothing less than the DAF Artbattle 2010.
Here’s a quick sumup of the drill:
- Everyone invents a character, draws it and signs it up with a quick whacky story outline and a fancy name.
- Then theres a drawing. Not a painting, but we assign each character a personal, temporary nemesis.
- Now all the artists come up with a scene where their guy severely owns the other guy and banishes it to paper. Or, in fact, digital canvas.
- The bloodthirsty mob of spectators picks their favorite gladiator for each fight and the losers join them.
- Repeat.

hen da Octosquid burst outta the Black Sea with the fiercest of screams, I nearly dropped me cocktail sword! Arrrr it been a battle worthy of songs, but me Arrpod drowned somewhere near the Skullworm Islands. So I been fighting, without a proper tune, outarmed and most nearly out of strength. Back and forth we went, me raft bouncing on waves bigger than mighty high waves …

Heh, Starcraft 2 Beta is out and basically so am I. The best part of my free time is now dedicated to sending the Swarm’s wrath over unexpecting fellow beta testers. I suck bad, but I hope to get back in shape before retail so I can ignore all I’ve learned and create and play funmaps.
It doesn’t mean I don’t fool around with a pen anymore, though. Theres a thread I started ages ago on mystarcraft.de’s forums. It’s really just a bunch of extremely silly stickmen Starcraft comics. Check it out or post in. Here’s my abomination of creativity for the evening.

The past sucks. The things you miss you miss and the thinks you actually try to shove away keep crawling up your leg. What we’re left with is idealized keepsakes and memories. And, in my case, a lot of media. So here’s something from a time I actually miss for a change.
I’ve been doing textures for Game Boxes for a potential Game Store level while I was at TO Crossfire. Most of them take a humorous turn at the game industry from that time, I think it was shortly after the launch of the WII. They take on the random flailing games that made the WII suck (until Raving Rabbits came out), Battlefield Booster packs and the Giant Crab PS3 incident and many more things. Since the level never got made I have them lying around for a while and I thought it would be cool to share them and say hi to my old modding friends.
They really were an awesome Team and I learned a lot from them. Cheers guys, you’ll always be in my hearts, even the frenchies <3

2009 is dead. Sure, it’s still twitching, the last energy in it’s body unloading as it refuses to stop haunting me quite yet. But eventually, very soon, this fucked up year will be behind me and with that, a chance to make 2010 much much better unveils. The year’s turn always gets me anxious.
There’s gonna be 356 fresh days to get creative. Sure, a lot of this time will get pissed away with work, chores and procrastination, but still… All the cool ideas that have been in my head for a while have a new chance to turn into reality, new ones too, and my mind does probably not stop coming up with things I feel the need to make. I’m like a child can’t wait for christmas morning. More so considering that this was one of the worst years in my life.
So what will be under the tree? This children’s book I always wanted to make? The means to make this game I keep dangling in front of me for ages? Is it all wrapped in shiny fun comics and animations? Will there be some fun ligtht web projects hanging from the tree? How much will I learn from whats in there? How much does it get even more fun from what I’ve already learned? Can’t wait to find the fuck out.
This will probably be the last you hear from me this year. I usually hate the holiday season, but this part is always great. So in all honesty:
